Who knows what the weather is outside? It seems to change constantly here in Central Pennsylvania. Quite honestly, this has been the craziest weather year I can remember. Can you recall the bitter cold January and February? Our service technicians and residential installers were busier than we had ever been during those two months of the year. Then,…nothing. It wasn’t until almost July when we had any consistent warm/hot temperatures then August came and away when the hot weather. The only constant during the past 6 months seems to have been the rain. Lots of moisture to go with the cooler temps.
So what does that mean for this winter? Who knows. The Farmer’s Almanac is calling for severe cold temperatures and above average precipitation but I remember hearing that this summer was to be brutally hot too. Here’s what I can tell you, we live in Central Pa and it gets pretty darn cold here for the better part of 4-6 months. Here’s what else I can tell you, I heard more complaints after least winter about fuel oil, propane and electric bills than I have since the mid-90’s and I don’t expect those rates to go down this year.
So, I suggest preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. If you’ve been considering an equipment replacement, don’t wait too long to do so. Rebates from the manufacturers and utility companies are out there for the taking. Schedule a maintenance inspection for your heating equipment to make sure it’s running at its peak efficiency before the cold weather hits. Make sure your outside hose bibbs are drained so they don’t freeze and burst inside your house. The “Good Guys” at Goodco Mechanical are prepared for this time of year so contact us to make sure you don’t have to deal with the harsh realities of Mother Nature in a cold, wet house.
