Hello! For my inaugural post I thought I’d share two things: a snippet of how I got started in my business and one of the things that motivates me daily to keep doing it.
I had a dream of owning my own business since shortly after college, and after having the good fortune of working for some large and reputable mechanical contracting companies in the DC area as well as locally, I ventured out on my own in 2008. The companies I worked for allowed me the freedom to grow and develop a full spectrum of business skills, not just those related to my Penn State architectural engineering degree. I’m grateful for that. If you’re an entrepreneur you know it’s not an easy road. But with my wife of nearly 27 years, Christine by my side, we’ve made it work, and it’s been a blessing.
I love being able to make a difference in people’s lives – my employees and my customers. And when it comes to HVAC and plumbing, we make a difference in some very practical ways – especially in today’s economy. It’s actually really rewarding to help people find cost-effective ways to improve the comfort of their home. This past winter was brutally cold and so many people are struggling with high heating bills, and still feeling the sting of those into the warmer months. We love being able to provide alternative heating and cooling options that save them money! Sometimes it’s a hard decision for people to make, because they see the initial investment. Like one of my recent customers, who in the end had this to say: “Thanks for walking me through that choice to replace my outdated system. I was hesitant at first due to the cost, but I’m really glad you guys helped me decide to move forward.”
That makes it all worth it. Thanks for joining me.
